Passion and deep intrinsic desire is often associated with the pursuit of creative success, matched by risk, failure, and perseverance.
Considering the ancient Greek myth of Sisyphus, Hannah Gee reimagines the rhythmic tides and eternal tasks of the creative process in their practice as an artist, drummer, and arts worker.
An exhibition of new sculptural and audiovisual installation, Sisyphus dreams pulls at the dichotomy of work and play through performance, labour, repetition, and rest. Assembling objects, images, and music that combines pathos, humour, queerness, and playful sorrow, each series presents a shifting contemplation of love and worth in a sea of aspirations and obligations.
Exhibition opens Wednesday 24th September 2025.
Sisyphus dreams is a lifelong provocation: if all our absurd stones are bound to fall, which ones are a curse, and which ones do we continue pushing to a rocking hi-hat?
Opening Night: Friday, 26 September 2025, from 6:00 PM
