Project is an artist-run-initiative that’s entirely staffed and operated by volunteers, most of whom are also members. We are always keen to welcome new friends who would like to donate some time to Project Artspace. If you don’t currently feel like you have the necessary skills we have a great team of current and past committee members who are willing to guide you.

With next Annual General Meeting is coming up very soon, Project seeks dedicated and committed individuals who would love to help out in many roles, such as:

President: Overall management, scheduling and chairing meetings, supporting and guiding other committee members. Other responsibilities could include marketing, networking, public relations, volunteer management. Other optional duties may include curating, organising fundraising and applying for grants.

Public Officer: Attends to governance responsibilities and is official contact between Project Contemporary Artspace Inc. and government departments. Ideal for someone who understands bureaucratic languages of various dialects.

Vice President:  Supports role of President and fills in as/when needed. Vice President has traditionally been the bookings officer and responsible for negotiating with external exhibitors, issuing contracts (based on templates), and helping to curate member’s exhibitions.

Secretary: Process new memberships, maintain membership and volunteer records and take minutes of meetings.

Treasurer: Keep accurate and up to date records of all financial transactions and finance-related documents. Balance accounts monthly. Process payments for invoices and to artists, ensuring correct commission amount is withheld. Other optional duties may include organising fundraising and applying for grants.

It doesn’t need to be a huge commitment and the experience will offer you many benefits including valuable experience in a gallery environment, learning about the technical, managerial and administrative side of things, as well as meeting like minded people. You don’t even need to be an artist!
